Bizzykidz faq's

Who are we?

In a nutshell we are the UK's leading child agency, it's as simple as that!

We have become the industry's preferred agency when selecting children for work and all because of our application and assessment process. In 2016, Bizzykidz featured in a 4 part TV series following our agency (solely), kids and parents over a 12 month period. The show went on to air in Europe & then Australia...so we have gone global. Our show The Tiny Tots Talent Agency was even nominated for a TV Choice Award 2016. It really doesn't get much better than that, but we topped it off with being a finalist in the Bexley Business Awards in the summer AND ended the year as WINNERS of The Entertainment Awards 2016 for Best Child Talent & Model Agency - UK!

2017 has begun with us winning Corporate Vision Magazine's 2017 Global Excellence Award for 'Most Outstanding Child Talent & Model Agency'. Look's like we have another cracking year ahead of us! We are also sponsors of The Kidz Channel, opening more doors to talent on our books.

In addition, we also manage adult models, actors & dancers aged 16-70yrs and have our Bizzykidz Angels department representing kids with disabilities.

We pride ourselves on being one of the most diverse agencies in the UK.

We are not affiliated to any other companies and especially not those model platform companies offering expensive portfolios and exploiting this industry!

How do I apply to join Bizzykidz?

You will need to submit an application using the 'apply' page. We do not accept postal, or email applications. Should your application be succesful, one of our team will contact you via email, or phone and within 7-days. When our books are closed you are still welcome to apply online and our bookers will take a look when they re-open. If we do not have a place you will be declined; we respond to all applications. We receive a large amount of applications daily, so are unable to offer artists a good enough chance of securing auditions and bookings if we are not selective. Our clients also expect to only receive prime candidates from us, so our assessment process has to be thorough. For these reasons we can only hold a certain amount of 'looks' for each age group. If you are not accepted first time please give it a few months before trying again as our circumstances may change.

Bizzykidz joining process explained

If we like a child, or adult, based on their application, and have a space available on our books, then they will be contacted by one of our bookers and invited in for a meeting. This will allow a parent to see how their child (or adult artist) reacts in a studio environment, whilst also allowing the agency to see beyond the application by gauging their character and see how they take direction under camera. The agency booker will be the photographer and a full assessment will be written on their time with us. This is all part of the joining process and invaluable when placing them for work.

We offer 2 ways to join us

1) Children 0-16yrs - Life Time Membership

2) Adults 16yrs+ - 2-Yearly Representation

Do I need an expensive portfolio?

You do 'NOT' require an expensive portfolio to apply to any agency. Snapshots are fine so beware of companies claiming to 'help' or 'prepare' you for this industry. You do NOT need a portfolio to apply to any agency!

Please read our blog page: http://blog.bizzykidz.com/2016/11/modelling-scams-dont-get-caught-out/

We receive in excess of 10 calls a day from parents & models who have paid hundreds and sometimes thousands of pounds for completely useless portfolios, websites, z-cards etc. Companies who provide such things are NOT agencies and parents should be aware that any 'reputable' agency will insist on meeting and testing their own models under camera before signing them, regardless of any experience gained in a studio. Any agency that does not want to meet a models and test them should be avoided as clients insist only those 'capable' of the task asked be sent. An agency cannot know an artist well enough to send to a client with confidence unless they have met and assessed them. No agency will allow a child to present their own z-card to their client, nor supply, or use their own website to their clients. Adults can produce their own z-cards, but not their own website. Our blog page shows the details of the recent BBC Rogue Traders TV show, which will help you understand what is 'not' required before applying to a reputable agency.

Do Bizzykidz accept all applicants?

No. We decline many applications daily to ensure we only have the right artists on our books. Our books close when we do not have availability, they open when we do. Our books are open all-year-round for babies and toddlers due to our client demand and the rate they grow. We have alot of clients, so need a healthy portoflio of artists to offer for work. However, we must ensure we only take on those we feel will have a look that we feel will appeal to our client base and that we strongly feel will be an asset to our agency portfolio. This ensures that we have only the best artists on our books to offer our clients.

We receive approximately 100-200 applications daily (over 1000 a day when our TV show was aired) and those who are successful are invited in to meet their booker. We are an extremely busy agency securing work for our children & adults, so it would prove impossible for a booker to invite everyone in to meet them and carry out her regular agency duties. As we do not charge a yearly fee, the agency will decline most applicants due to space on our books. Our philosophy is to only accept an applicant who we feel would make a fantastic addition to our agency portfolio.

Bizzykidz children are cute, unique, have a great personality and a temperament to cope with the varying demands of this industry.

Bizzy Adults are reliable, eager & committed.

Should an agency charge a fee?

Applicants should be aware that, despite ill-informed gossip, all the successful and reputable agencies will charge something to be on their books. It is illegal for model agencies to charge, but not talent agencies; who are permitted to charge for website inclusion in line with BIS regulations. We supply children & adults for all areas of the industry and are a Talent Agency supplying kids & adults for photographic work also, at no extra charge. Even those agencies who claim not to charge will hit you with 'you now need to pay for this to be seen by our best clients' once on their books, so beware! Agencies will usually also charge yearly or 2-yearly fees for their website inclusion. Some will accept from images alone and never meet their artists and some will invite you in to meet them and charge extortionate fees for photography. All agencies operate in their own unique way and so it can be very confusing.

What are the costs to join Bizzykidz?

There are no fees to be merely represented by our agency, but artists are asked to cover their own expenses for website fees; standard with all the major child agencies. Our agency website is what clients use to select children & adults for work. The fee is not yearly and includes a photoshoot, with images, and full agency assessment.

Children: £190 one off payment to cover children until they reach 16yrs. Includes free photography, assessment and is paid in 3 instalments.
Adults: 2-yearly website cost of £80. You are able to use your own portfolio. If you need a portfolio we can provide this service via our photographers at our HQ studio (not appointed studios); full details provided if accepted.

We work with some of the biggest names in the industry, an industry which is highly competitive. We therefore must insist our artists have only images of the highest quality on their webpage to offer our clients.

The website fee allows you to log in and update/add details and images when you wish. All over 3yr olds must have head shots taken with our agency photographer to ensure that our Bizzykidz website stays uniform and up to the same standard to allow clients to easily compare artists. Under 3yr olds can use snapshots, or professional, it is their choice. We supply parents with an updates chart explaining how often the images should be updated as per client preference.

If you would prefer your child to just be submitted for photographic modelling, subject to acceptance by the agency, the agency set up fee will be taken from your child's first earnings. This is in compliance with BIS regulations, as the current legislation states that an upfront work finding service fee cannot be charged to those working as a photographic model only. Any artist taken on as a 'model only' will be notified in writing.

What is our commission rate & are we sole rep?

Our commission rate is 30% for photographic & commercial work, with 20% for fittings, theatre & stage. Bizzykidz are not sole rep, you can register with more than one agency, we just ask that you notify us of any other agency you're registered with as a courtesy measure. We will contract our artists on an exclusive basis if confirmed for a major campaign, or role. Signing with more than 2 agencies can become problematic, so bear that in mind and we ask that you list your unavailablity dates on your profile to help us remain professional with our clients. Many clients will reject submissions from agencies for artists registered with 'multiple' agencies, so please be aware of this when joining more than two agencies. You must also ensure you list any work achieved and any other agencies you are registed on your profile to avoid licencing issues and/or work conflictions (see terms). The agency cannot take responsiblity for a client rejecting a child submission when registered with more than one other agency.

How often can I expect work?

The amount of work an artist is booked for would depend on many factors. It is important to understand it is the client and not the agency who chooses the models & talent for their campaigns. No agency can therefore guarantee work and any who do should be avoided.

Some artists are booked regularly, some occasionally, whilst others may not be so lucky. We do however have an extremely high percentage of our children & adults out daily on shoots and auditions and can guarantee that we submit all those to clients when they are suitable and match the brief. We also ensure professional, ethical representation at all times.

We typically receive over 30 briefs a day (including weekends!) so as long as you have up to date photos and sizes you will be seen by our clients. We want our children & adults working as much as they do, that is where we earn our money! Artists can see how many clients have viewed their profile and receive notification when they are submitted for work.

How much do child models earn?

All jobs are different and earnings will depend on the client, campaign and how much, how long and where the campaign is featured.

Average rates are below:

TV Commercial - £180 day rate

Film & TV - £100 (extra) - £150 (day rate)

Photographic - £55-£95 per hour

Additional usage applies to tv commercial and photographic work £560-£28,000, depending on territory and time

Commission is not applied to travel costs. Our agency commission is 30% for photographic & commercial work and 20% for stage and theatre.

The above rates are a guide; the agency will always negotiate for the best rate for a child and to secure the job. The more the child earns, then the more the agency does!

Are Travel Costs Reimbursed?

You are not normally able to claim travel back from castings or shoots. If you do a shoot outside reasonable travel distance to your area then we can claim travel. For any television work the chaperone would get a day rate of between £70-£100. Work secured abroad is always covered for travel and accommodation, rest days and work days.

What about school?

Most auditions are between 4-7pm for school age children and during the day for those younger. Assignments will mostly be during the day so time out of school may be necessary. It is a professional working industry and our clients shoot times reflect that.

Most of these bookings come in with very short notice, usually the next day. Being available to attend will obviously increase an artist's chances of success with us.

We would love it if you can make every audition but do realise that parents have work and other commitments of their own. We provide a calendar for you to inform us of holiday dates, or other general unavailability. If you cannot make it after you have confirmed, you must let us know. This will allow us to replace your child with another and give someone else the opportunity whilst not letting our client down.

The agency and client needs to get school permission for shoots held during school hours. Most schools are aware of how the industry is and a performers licence is obtained from your local education department which works with your school. Unless you land a permanent role in a feature film, TV show, or stage production, it will just be the odd day here and there. For permanent roles and touring, private education is always provided. Our bookers handle all licencing on your behalf with the client when the occasion arises.

Additional Application Information

We cannot consider incomplete applications, or those with incorrect information.

We can only consider those who are permanent UK residents.

We are a talent agency primarily and submit our talent for model work too, not the other way around! You are welcome to apply without training or experience and if you only require model work the agency will need to pass your application to our model department for assessment, so please state this on your application. If you do not then we will assume you are applying for all areas of work.

Whatever our decision, we will respond and provide useful information to those who are not successful.
